Jackson Hole’s New Toy
January 23rd, 2009It took a while (about a month!), but I finally rode the new tram in Jackson Hole. Back in the day (2000-2003) I used to work for the retail department at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. My summer months were spent peddling Tram merchandise at the souvenir shops at the top and bottom of the Tram…yep, just like Disney World, JHMR forces visitors into a gift shop as soon as they get off the ride!
I thought I had disconnected myself from JHMR and the Tram years ago, I couldn’t help but feel quite a bit of nostalgia and excitement on my first experience on the new Tram. I was actually sort of nervous to take my first ride, afterall, much has changed since I was slinging hot chocolate in July to tourists at 10,450 feet in a small cabin with no running water…..
The new Tram boasts lots of new bells and whistles, (and a $32 million dollar price tag) but there are several constants that remain the same…check out the video to see what you think of this new machine! Be sure to turn up the volume, you’ll notice the choice of music and the disclaimer at the summit hasn’t changed a bit….
