November 13th, 2008
Stowe Resort is the premier ski resort in Vermont.
The addition of a new slopeside luxury hotel & spa, a new Base Camp, an inter-mountain transfer gondola, new trails, a new beginner area, two new high-speed detachable quads, fully-automated snowmaking, exclusive mountainside residences and a spectacular mountain golf course has reinforced Stowe Mountain Resort’s position as the East’s premier ski and four-season mountain resort.
Its official, Spruce Peak at Stowe has come to life and a new legacy of visitors, experiences and environmental stewardship are affirming Stowe’s century-long reputation as a world-class destination.
No single project will touch more visitors in Stowe,VT. this winter than the new Spruce Camp base lodge, scheduled to open in December for the 2008-2009 ski season. The Spruce Camp will be Stowe Mountain Resort’s central source for skier and snowboarder services. The building includes restaurants, a bar, indoor & outdoor fireplaces, rental shops, retail, tickets, event space and public lounge areas that blend the unique dynamics of Stowe’s mountains with the comfort of a state-of–the-art luxury base lodge. The beautifully designed building is located adjacent to the new ‘Over Easy’ transfer gondola, providing convenient access to the slopes of both Spruce Peak and Mount Mansfield.
Every project at the resort has been done to address growing customer trends and cater to and all those who desire an experience that’s both diverse and authentic. The new mountainside community called Spruce Peak at Stowe offers the intimacy of a charming New England village with exceptional quality and amenities never before seen in the East. The pedestrian plaza will be a lively hub this winter with shopping, dining, interactive ice-carving & igloo building, live music, camp fires with outdoor seating and complimentary/make-your-own smores.
Stowe Mountain Resort maintains a strong commitment to the environment at every step of its operations and development. An Environmental Charter guides all aspects of every project in a way that preserves the area’s ecological viability. This includes designating 2,000 acres of the surrounding forest for wildlife preservation and a host of environmental accomplishments. In 2007 Stowe was the first mountain resort in the U.S. to earn Audubon International’s ‘Green Community Award.’

Stowe is one of best of the east. The Goat is one of my favorite runs in the world. I’ll never forget skiing that classic run in 3 feet of powder back in early November of ‘95 on Vermont Food Bank Day. Bring a can of soup and get a $5 lift ticket. Usually you get to ski a couple of white ribbons of death at that time of the year. But ‘95-’96 started with a bang and never let up. The Goat was open and I don’t think I ever had as great a run down that narrow/double-pitched New England classic.
Awesome Post! Stowe Rocks!!
