If you don't push your technique, you don't get to the next level and you get bored of riding. Accept the fact you may break bones and rupture organs testing your limits. Pain is temporary, but pussies are forever. Oh yeah, and speed is good. If you go faster then everyone else on the mountain, you don't need to worry about someone taking you out from behind.

Some great aspen tree runs, can find some good powder stashes in there. Plenty of challenging terrain and steep double black diamond runs on the back side.
