Alpine/Downhill Resorts and Areas provide lift serviced terrain for snowboarders, skiers and snow bikers.
Backcountry Areas are places considered “out-of-bounds”; providing snowsports users adventure in an unmanaged, non-patrolled environment.
A Nordic Ski Jumping Complex is designed strictly for Nordic Ski Jumping often with a variety of Nordic Jump sizes. The Nordic Ski Jump is designed for distance and requires specialty Nordic Ski Jumping equipment. Many Nordic Centers include Nordic Ski Jumps as part of their overall operation.
Nordic/Cross Country Centers provide groomed trails for Nordic Skate Skiing and set-track for Nordic Classical Skiing styles.
Heli/Cat Operations provide unique access for skiers and snowboarders to remote areas via helicopters or snow cats. The number of fellow riders is limited by the size of the “bird” or “cat”. Professional Guides help direct the rider to pristine terrain allowing for a snowboarding and skiing experience considered the ultimate thrill by all who have experienced it.
Hut Systems serve backcountry areas around the globe. A Hut System provides a secure place to spend the night and offers inexpensive lodging in remote, uncontrolled, unpatrolled backcountry areas.
Historic/Ghost Areas are former ski and snowboarding operations that no longer provide lift access or operational facilities.
