I skied Bretton Woods on probably one of the coldest days in the history of mankind. It was so cold that everyone else in the state of New Hampshire must have been too scared to go outside, because I remember the lift attendant telling us that on a day where they’d typically sell several hundred lift tickets, they only sold 75! We only got several runs in for the whole day’s worth of tickets we bought, as we needed to go in and warm up every run or so, and pretty much threw in the towel by about 1 PM. But for the time we were out there, the snow seemed to be set up extremely well. For a place that is supposed to have the best grooming in all of the East, it seemed that if it were warm enough to have noticed anything else besides how fast we lost our fingertips down every run, it would have held up to its reputation.

Just the cold! And the sheer mellowness of the terrain didn’t help us get down the mountain any faster to warm up.
