It’s the snow stupid! If you want powder then Jay Peak is your best bet in the east. I skied Jay when they got 6 inches out of partially cloudy skies! Most snowfall in the east, a true “alp”. Favorite trail: Green Beret… we hum the song on the tram ride up, mandatory huck. And the runs off of the Jet. Jay Peak was the first resort to go big into glade skiing and it’s still the best in the east for tree skiing (Buckeroo Banzai!).

You’re practically in Canada. And that means cold! I’ve been there during 100 below wind chills gripped the mountain. Not one single car in the parking lot would start. Plus Jay Peak is a long drive from anywhere… except maybe Montreal. On the weekends the Tram line can be a major bummer. So plan on getting there early so that you can get on that first or second tram, then make your way over to the Jet triple and ski U.N., Kitzbuehl and Timbuktoo.
