Keystone makes it easier: easier to get to, easier to get on the mountain, easier to cover some ground, and easier to ski a variety of terrain. We parked at the lot that is farthest to the north (?) to the right of the mountain looking up. By doing this, we were able to unload the car and get right on the snow…. no meadering streets through the village. The grooming is vast and impeccable. The best I’ve seen in Colorado. Lift capacity is very good, we were there mid-week and never once stood in a line to board. I also like how the runs are laid out… if one person wants to ski bumps and another wants to stick to a groomer, its easy to split up for a run and find each other at the bottom. Long runs with continuous fall lines. Lots of “Slow Zones” and big presence of mountain hosts/ski patrol on speed control shows that they make safety a big priority. As a Mom, I really appreciate this. We didn’t have time to check out the snow cat operation but on my next visit, that’s a priority…. it looks like a really cool option. OH, and the kid’s play area at the top of the main mountain is killer fun.

This has been a lean snow year so its not Keystone’s fault but much of the expert terrain was unskiable as a result of thin snow. Also, the caliber of skier at this resort seems to be on the low side, and with long, perfectly groomed runs, you really have to keep looking over your shoulder to make sure you aren’t going to get mowed down.
