General Comments/Likes

Steep, varied and challenging terrain. It’s own little hamlet of a resort nestled in the mountains AWAY from tahoe. Bring your x-country and BC skis for a four day weekend, explore the hill for two, then hit the BC for a day and finish with some great x-country skiing. If given a choice of kwood or heavenly, choose kwood, especially with powder.

Haul to get to on a road that periodically closes and hoards of slow moving traffic unless the roads are dry. Terrain is great…but it suffers from being short – the trail map says 1600’ for the wall and cornice express, but at least 500’ of that is a runout to get back to the lifts. Fun to explore and beautiful surroundings but the runs are a bit short. Just make them worth it.
