Mary Jane Alpine/Downhill Resorts Resort (Are you this resort?)
The Mary Jane, or better known to her loyal fans as simply “The Jane”, is the sister ski hill to the Winter Park Resort. Completed in 1975, the genius of the Jane’s trail design came from Steve Bradley, the creator of modern slope grooming and inventor of the Bradley Packer.
This is interesting only because The Jane is known for her blistering bumps and tree skiing, not her groomed trails!

General Comments/Likes
Named after a pioneering business woman (okay so she was a prostitute) the Mary Jane is the place to go ski bumps and trees in Colorado. The best end of season ski party anywhere is in the C-Lot at the Jane. Best dog friendly area I’ve ever seen. Needle’s Eye, Drunken Frenchman and Outhouse will burn out even the best skiers. The Jane usually gets even more snow than the official count from the Winter Park side. If the snow report says 6 inches at Winter Park then you can usually add two to four inches on top of that for the Jane. Best tree skiing? Topher’s Trees, but not for the faint of heart, the trees are named after Christopher “Topher” Sendroy who died in a tree well in those trees. Want an adventure? Try to see how many Rasta Huts you can find (I know almost 40 of them). Like to ski steep chutes? Warm up on Runaway before you try Hole-in-the-Wall, Baldy’s or Awe Chute.
Skier’s tip, the Challenger Chair (C-Chair to the locals) is the chair to ride when the Super Gauge Express is jammed up. There’s a good bar at the Mary Jane base lodge, The Club Car.
After skiing head over to Hernando’s Pizza Pub in the town of Winter Park, consistently voted the number one pizza in town, their motto is “Life’s too short to eat bad pizza”. Like meat on your pizza? Order the Chosen… Tell Cowboy I sent you.

If you’re looking for mellow groomers then the Mary Jane is definitely not for you, head over to the Winter Park side or the Pioneer Chair at Vasquez Ridge (not to be confused with the extreme Vasquez Cirque).
I do wish that Winter Park would groom the top part of Derailer more frequently, we rut it out pretty fast.
