Saddleback is a perfect place for uncrowded trails, challenging glades, and great snow conditions. The lodge is extremely nice. While many complain that the Rangeley Double lift, which serves the main core of the mountain is old and slow, I like it because its slow dispersal of skiers and riders makes for trails that seem almost empty.

A lot of the single black diamond trails contain unmarked and sometimes mandatory cliff jumps. While I personally like this I’m sure that others will find these trails intimidating compared to say a black groomer at Sunday River. The resort is a bit of a haul, but at least it’s on mostly highway style driving.
