If Howelson Hill in Steamboat Springs, Colorado is the “biggest little ski area” in America then Snow King Resort in Jackson, Wyoming is the STEEPEST little ski hill in America. With a vertical drop of 1,571 feet you might think it would be a waste of your time to ski here when Jackson Hole is so close. Well you’d be wrong. Snow King is incredibly steep, and how many “little local’s hill” offer hike-to-ski extremes? How many ski areas let you buy a three hour lift ticket for $30? How many ski areas have BIG lockers that cost only 25 cents and then refund the quarter when you’re finished at the end of the day. Tired of the agro-dude-a-tude of J-Hole? Spend a retro-day of skiing at Snow King, you’ll think you’ve gone back in time to when it was all about the skiing and not the “resortness”.
Favorite runs; Bearcat, the S-Chutes, Belly Roll.
Snow King has the friendliest ski patrollers that I’ve met in a long, long time, and if you didn’t get enough runs during the day then take advantage of the night skiing.
Dislikes
The lifts at Snow King Resort are a bit on the old and slow side. There’s not a lot of dining options, but the base has quick and cheap eats.
