General Comments/Likes
One of only three areas in the US to host the winter Olympics. Big area with a lot of nice terrain. Legendary steeps and lots of wide open bowls/chutes/groomers. Tree skiing – I missed it. Shirley Lake, Granite Chief, and Siberia Bowl all present high alpine options for intermediate-advanced skiers. Would like to go back and tackle KT-22 and the cornice chutes now. Lots of sunshine max out on the sunscreen. My lips and nose, scalp got nuked. Nice smallish, cozy yet trendy base area with some decent apres (like right after skiing before sundown) options. Aside from the homes that look like they date from the ‘40s to the ’70s (don’t you wish?), and a few condo projects, there is no “there” there (not that that’s a bad thing). Stayed in Reno in a spacious an inexpensive casino hotel room and rode the bus up, very easy trip, free, and convenient.

Can’t think of any. This was after Easter and the mountain was empty. I’m sure it’s crowded in season and on weekends.

The base has changed quite a bit since you’ve been there, there’s now a cheesy Intrawest pseudo-village. Half of the once gigantic parking lot has been used for the Keystone-esque construction, you know the kind with phony Irish pubs and lame sushi bars.
